Why choose this eco-volunteering program?
This eco-volunteering program takes place directly in the heart of a South African National Park. The role of this program is to contribute to the management and monitoring of a large section of the park.
Hence, you have the opportunity to spend more than 10 hours in the bush every day with experienced professionals. The work here is to monitor the animals and collect important data for animal management in the park. It is also a way to deter poaching and study animal behaviour in this part of the country.
This initiative alone is funded by volunteers, with the park benefiting from this valuable assistance.
Affiliated scientific partnerships and projects —
Program in direct contact with the park to which the analyses and results of the controls carried out with the volunteers are submitted.
Daily program —
You are part of the park monitoring team and collect a lot of information on animal populations. These are useful for the proper management of the national park. In addition, you contribute to the monitoring of any suspicious traces that may be related to poaching. As a result, you are directly involved in the protection of the most threatened species.
Each day is spent in total immersion in the bush, in the middle of nature.
Many activities take place in the park to observe and monitor animals, both to monitor populations and to avoid poaching.
Here are some of the activities offered during your eco-volunteering experience:
- Animal monitoring, data collection
- Conservation work
- Installation of camera traps
- Walks in the bush
- Sleep out
- ULM flight
- Monitoring of fire outbreaks
- Capture of animals
- Assistance in monitoring against poaching
You are accommodated in the volunteer house in the heart of the national park. Volunteers sleep in dormitories and have shared bathrooms. A double room with private bathroom is available on request (additional cost).
